As the African adage goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” However, it also takes children to bring the village back alive. Therefore, KAVA’s focus will be to promote:Cultural enrichment and heritage preservation: Promote and support cultural heritage and enrichment through the establishment of cultural centers and programs.
Education: Establish new or renovate existing education facilities, especially at the primary and secondary school levels. Promote adult literacy to enable villagers to read and write in their native languages. Support and promote extracurricular activities, such as sports, culture and community involvement for youth. Partner with students in American schools to promote cultural exchange.
Community development: Improve living conditions in villages. Assist in creating a safe water supply. Build an infrastructure to support modern facilities. Promote recreational programs for adults and youth. Support the tradition and culture of the people. Develop new housing. Support projects to upgrade medical services to the communities.
Economic empowerment: Assist villagers in establishing markets for agricultural goods and with fisheries, goat herding, etc. Set up programs to attract small-scale industries, job opportunities.
Political awareness: Educate residents about political situations in their localities, cities, state and nation and inform them of ways to get involved.
